Hope this helps some.I just did the same on my 2020 iMac.and doing it that way then ejecting the drive (within Mac, just for safety sake) and going back to the BootCamp Assistant and removing the bootcamp partition.but definitely. YouTube link incoming re: registry setting
#Winclone 5 youtube install#
I had some crap luck with this the other day - install bootcamp as normal, on your computer itself (main drive), do all the driver install, change a registry setting, disable hibernate then shut down, clone with Winclone to external ssd then it will work. Anyone have a recommendation for the best way to partition it so there is 500gb of mac storage and 500gb of win storage? Can I do an APFS / NTFS drive? If thats the case, I'd like to share the 1tb SSD with mac for storage.

My last resort is to resign to creating an Win10 OS only partition on the internal drive, maybe 100gb, and installing all the games on the SSD.
#Winclone 5 youtube drivers#
I've spent 5 hours on this last night and its quite demoralizing.ĭoes anyone have experience with the drivers not working on an external SSD -AND- having gone through the bootcamp support installation with no luck? This is particularly frustrating because it WAS working on the internal SSD. Bootcamp is installed and I can see in the bottom right task tray, but the drivers are functioning. No driver installation or bootcamp setup seems to stick. I tried installing Broadcom drivers individually. I tried running the bootcamp setup right from /drivers/apple/ with elevated permissions through the command prompt. I have a wired keyboard and a usb mouse so thats not the issue. I am not looking for trackpad or magic mouse drivers, just the basics like wifi/sound/bluetooth. Of course I install the Windows Support Software from a USB and it goes through the process without issue, but it doesn't fix the driver issue. However when I finally get into windows, I have no drivers. So I bought a 1TB SSD drive and external dock. I was able to use Bootcamp to install a Windows partition on my 500gb SSD 2020 iMac without issue.īut I do plan on doing some gaming so I ultimately wanted more space than having to share a 500gb SSD.
